1️⃣ Product Overview

98D Silica Fume is a high-purity, densified microsilica product characterized by its exceptionally high silica content of no less than 98%. It is collected from the fumes produced during the manufacturing processes of silicon metal and ferrosilicon alloys, where silica vapor oxidizes and condenses, and is then captured by sophisticated baghouse filtration systems. This amorphous, nano-sized spherical powder has an average particle size of approximately 0.1 μm and a very high specific surface area ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 m²/kg, endowing it with extremely high pozzolanic reactivity.

3️⃣ Performance Characteristics

· Ultra-High Reactivity: The combination of over 98% SiO₂ content and amorphous structure provides exceptional pozzolanic activity, vigorously reacting with calcium hydroxide from cement hydration to form additional strength-bearing C-S-H gel.

· Superior Micro-Filling Effect: The ultra-fine spherical particles efficiently fill the interstitial spaces between cement grains, dramatically reducing porosity and creating an extremely dense matrix with enhanced impermeability and mechanical strength.

· Substantial Strength Enhancement: Incorporation of 6%-12% of 98D Silica Fume can increase concrete compressive strength by 25%-40% and flexural strength by 15%-25%.

· Exceptional Durability: Significantly improves resistance to chloride ion penetration, sulfate attack, and alkali-silica reaction. Demonstrates superior retention of mechanical properties after hundreds of freeze-thaw cycles compared to ordinary concrete.

· Ultra-High Performance Concrete: A key component in producing UHPC and RPC.

· High-Performance Refractories: Used in advanced unshaped refractories to significantly enhance hot strength, thermal shock resistance, and corrosion resistance.

· High-Strength Mortars and Grouts: Essential for floor screeds, repair mortars, and non-shrink grouts requiring high strength, durability, and abrasion resistance.

· Specialty Composites: Serves as a functional filler in polymers, rubber, and coatings to improve mechanical properties, wear resistance, and longevity.

· Marine and Anti-Corrosion Engineering: Ideal for structures exposed to harsh environments like marine settings and chemical plants for long-term protection.


5️⃣ Usage Guidelines

· Mandatory Combination: To fully realize its potential, must be used in conjunction with high-range water reducers.

· Optimized Dosage: The recommended dosage is 6%-12% by mass of total cementitious materials, with the optimal percentage determined through mix design testing.

· Extended Mixing: Mixing time should be extended by 1-2 minutes beyond conventional practice to ensure uniform dispersion.

· Enhanced Curing: Due to higher early-age heat of hydration and potential for self-desiccation, prompt and diligent moist curing must commence immediately after final set and be maintained for a recommended minimum of 14 days.


6️⃣ Packaging & Storage

· Packaging: Standard packaging is 25kg/bag in plastic-lined woven bags. 500kg/bag or 1000kg/bag jumbo bags are available upon request.

· Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry warehouse. Must be kept protected from moisture and water.

· Shelf Life: 24 months when stored under recommended conditions.
